The Good, the Bad, the Ugly

The Good…

It’s nice to have the Diamondbacks back on TV

The Bad…

I sat in my office Tuesday afternoon handling business while watching our hometown hero’s blow a 5-0 lead. I watched as the bullpen brought in a gas can and matches rather than a glove and ball. I saw the offense collect a measly two hits after building a big cushion. 4-8 after 12 games, with a ten-game road trip starting Thursday in Washington.

The Ugly…

Torey Lovullo was late in challenging a missed call by the first base umpire on a well-executed pickoff play in the 9th inning. Umpire shooed the skipper back to the dugout. A’s get a double, runner scores. That can’t happen.

Madison Bumgarner is now winless in three starts, with an earned run average north of 11.

111 strikeouts by Diamondbacks hitters through 12 games.

Now to the Suns

The Good…

Listening to Al McCoy calling games on the radio around a good team.

Monty Williams getting on his team even in victories. This team tends to relax and let teams sneak back when they should be down for the count. The head coach isn’t’ one to sugarcoat. I like that.

Devin Booker is averaging 29.5 points in his last 10-games. He’s doing it while averaging just 35 minutes per night. He’s also shooting 48-percent per game. He’s not one of these guys getting their points while jacking up 30 shots. Booker has been super-efficient.

The Bad…

Many teams in the NBA. Look, the Suns were part of the League’s dregs for years, so I’m not going to apologize; it’s just a fact that there a very few have vs. have not’s…

The Ugly…

Not putting teams away when up big on the scoreboard. Yes, it’s the regular season, but when a team hasn’t made a playoff appearance in ten years, thinking that flipping a switch will be a cure-all isn’t the smartest way to go…
