ASU Preps for Bowl Game Amid Coaching Changes, Transfers

Arizona Sports News online

ASU kicked off its postseason workouts Monday in preparation for the Sun Bowl against Florida State.

While the Devils tried to keep their focus on field, news broke that freshman quarterback Joey Yellen had entered the transfer portal. Yellen was one of three quarterback commits in the 2019 recruiting class and served as the backup quarterback for fellow freshman Jayden Daniels.

In his lone start against USC, Yellen threw for 292 yards, four touchdowns and two interceptions.

Additionally, ASU had some new faces on the field and in new roles. New offensive coordinator Zak Hill was not at practice, but Derek Hagan and Prentice Gill, who will spilt wide receiver duties, were working to get acclimated in their new roles.

The Sun Devils have a busy signing day on Wednesday before taking on Florida State on New Years Eve.
