In addition to the Sun Devils, the 6-foot-1, 228-pound linebacker had offers from some of the best programs in college football including Alabama, Oklahoma, Arizona State, Washington, Auburn, Colorado, Florida, LSU, Ohio State, Oregon, Penn State, San Jose State, Tennessee, USC, Utah, Texas A&M.

247Sports’ Greg Biggins gave this evaluation for Banks:

Has the frame to play inside linebacker but could easily bulk up and play more off the edge to take advantage of his natural pass-rushing ability. A versatile defender who can play multiple spots in college depending on his size and weight. Played both inside and outside linebacker as well as rush end – and even as a three-tech as a junior. Flashes a quick first step, can get around the edge and has excellent closing speed. Plays with a relentless motor, does a nice job getting off blocks and can make tackles on plays run away from him. Is tough at the point of attack, gets off blocks and is a finisher. Good with his hands. As he continues to improve his overall athleticism and can focus on one position, his game should really improve. Projects as a impact upper-tier Power 5 starter and future mid-round NFL draft pick.

As a junior, Banks notched 61 tackles, 20 tackles for loss and 13 sacks.

Banks is the 17th commit for the Sun Devils in the 2020 class and the seventh from California. He is the third four-star commitment for Arizona State, joining running back DeaMonte Trayanum and wide receiver Chad Johnson Jr.
