GCU Athletic Director Resigns

There’s been a change at the top of the Grand Canyon Univeristy athletic department. 

Mike Vaught, who oversaw the transition of GCU athletics to Division One, resigned as VP of Athletics on Tuesday. “GCU would like to thank Mike for nearly five years of service at the University,” GCU President Brian Mueller said. in a statement released by the University “In a time of significant growth University-wide, Mike oversaw the athletic department’s successful transition to NCAA Division I status and an expansive facilities enhancement project. We wish him and his wife Karri the best.”

Vaught came to GCU in October of 2014. “I am grateful for an exceptional experience here at GCU and the tremendous group of people I was able to work with on a daily basis,” Vaught said. “This University has a bright future, and I look forward to watching the continued development of the athletics department and University as a whole.”

Deputy Athletic Director Jamie Boggs will fill the position on an interim basis.
