Is this a black cloud season for YOUR Arizona Cardinals? A home game against San Francisco on the last Sunday of September shouldn’t be viewed as a “must win”, but for your reeling hometown heroes, it is. A 1-3 start with gaping holes and question marks at several positions, doesn’t bode well for a bounce back into the postseason if they face plant on Sunday.
For the first time since he’s been here, I’ve received negative notes about Tyrann Mathieu. His lackadaisical touch on a big pass play to Brice Butler didn’t give many fans the feeling that the money being dished out for the “Honey Badger” is paying off.
Robert Nkemdichee has been a first round bust to this point. There’s no other way to put it. Those who want to defend him by pointing to some plays in preseason, fail to understand one thing. It was preseason football.
Over on the other side of the ball, the offensive line is a mess. Everyone has seen the decline of Jared Veldheer and now there’s a serious injury to Mike Iupati.
John Brown hasn’t been John Brown for a long, long, time. Can this organization count on him? Sure, J.J. Nelson is fast and made a big play in the Indianapolis game, but I need guys that aren’t one hit wonders. David Johnson looks great on TV in street clothes.
The special teams? Phil Dawson has yet to have to a clean game. The field goals he’s missing aren’t from the other side of Maricopa County either. They are kicks that a veteran should make.
Sunday is a home divisional games. Good teams, playoff teams, win these games. Show us something!
