IMG Tackle Josh Walker Commits To Arizona

The Arizona Wildcats added some bulk to their 2018 recruiting class landing a commitment from IMG Academy (Bradenton, Florida) defensive tackle Josh Walker who announced on twitter Tuesday he’s headed to Tucson.

The 6-f00t-2, 285-pounder had offers from a number of schools, including Arizona State where some felt he may end up. Nebraska, Boise State, Notre Dame, North Carolina and UCLA were a few other prominent programs to offer the playmaker.

The Wildcats were not among the recent list of schools which Walker had the most interest but, nonetheless, UofA adds a key piece to their 2018 class. He is the Cats’ ninth commit of next year’s group.

Scout.com has this analysis on Walker:

Walker plays hard. He is a fierce competitor with a non-stop motor. He gets in and out of his stance well. He plays out of the four-point stance and he fires off the ball low. He shoots his hands, he plays with good leverage, and he is good at shedding blocks. He identifies the ball and he attacks. He has good quickness, he can re-direct and he chases the football. He is not the tallest interior defensive lineman, but he uses that to his advantage. He can improve his moves off the ball and his ability to rush the passer. He is very strong against the run.
