Miller, ‘Cats Land 2016 European Star

Sean Miller’s track record as a recruiter speaks for itself.

Saturday morning Miller went international, landing his first 2016 gem as five-star power forward Lauri Markkanen announced he is committing to the Arizona Wildcats. The 6’10” native of Finland picked the ‘Cats over North Carolina and Utah. He also had offers from Duke, Florida, St. John’s and Texas A&M.

According to reports Markkanen’s an above average athlete with solid all-around skills. He has a nice mid-range game with the ability to hit the three. Markkanen averaged over 18 points and six rebounds a game for Finland’s under-18 team during the European Championships.

UofA was in the market for a stretch-four after T.J. Leaf decommitted late last summer.

The ‘Cats, who open their season November 13th against Pacific in Tucson, must replace four starters off last season’s Elite Eight team.

Arizona held their annual Red Blue Game Saturday afternoon at McKale Center. Ryan Anderson led all scorers with 18 points and added eight rebounds.
