Every week, Southwest Recruiting Analyst for Scout.com and Sports360az.com recruiting insider Jason Jewell takes us around the state and spotlights the best performances during the high school football season. Here are the stars from Week Three of the 2015 season.

Player of the Week

* Travis Lockhart – QB – Hamilton – There have been a ton of D1 QBs come out of Hamilton over the years. Lockhart now has surpassed them all and is Hamilton’s single game passing yardage record holder. He threw for 348 yards and totaled 6 TDs in their win over Horizon.

Coach of the Week

* Dan Hinds – Desert Vista – No one, no one, thought Desert Vista would be 3-1 right now and no one would have picked them to beat Basha. Hinds has the Thunder rolling and showed the state they are for real in a big win over Basha on Friday.

Team of the Week

* Tucson High – They beat a very good Higley squad by 20+ points last week.

Quarterbacks

* Valley Christian sophomore Alijah Gammage went 14/19 for 238 yards, rushed for 49 more and picked a pass on defense. He had 3 TDs.

* Dysart’s Tyree Taylor had 6 TDs versus Santa Rita.

* Jay Vanderjagt from Coronado threw for 419 yards and 5 TDs versus Kingman.

* PV’s Daniel Bridge-Gadd threw for 323 yards and 3 TDs versus Sunnyslope.

* Saguaro’s Kare Lyles threw for 416 yards and 5 TDs against Dobson.

* Joy Christian’s Matt Mitchell threw 4 TDs versus Tombstone.

* Mason Moran from Chandler had 282 yards and 2 TDs passing and ran for 153 yards and 3 TDs.

* Harrison Beemiller from Ironwood Ridge had 4 TDs versus Salpointe.

* Freshman Spencer Rattler from Pinnacle threw for 356 yards and 4 TDs versus Mt. View.

Running Backs

* Macarius Blount from Mt. Pointe rushed for 140 yards and scored 3 times against Boulder Creek.

* Kingman’s Isiah Perez totaled 230 yards and 2 TDs against Coronado.

* On just 5 carries, Tonopah’s Julian Perry rushed for 100 yards and 2 TDs. He also had a punt return TD.

* T.J. Green from Chandler had 4 rushing TDs versus Desert Ridge.

* Cutter Hatch from Perry rushed for 142 yards and 4 TDs.

Receivers

* Dysart’s Kwasi Okafor caught 4 passes for 131 yards and 2 TDs versus Santa Rita.

* Hamilton’s Kaleb Pitts set a school record with 4 receiving TDs against Horizon. He caught 5 passes for 149  yards.

* Casa Grande’s Trevor Russell caught 8 passes for 186 yards and 4 TDs.

* Jacob Brown from PV caught 8 passes for 161 yards and 3 TDs versus Sunnyslope.

* Saguaro’s Byron Murphy caught 4 passes for 253 yards and 2 TDs versus Dobson.

* Jake Welsheimer from Shadow Mountain caught 6 passes for 208 yards and 2 TDs.

* Joy Christian’s Isaiah Goodspeed caught 7 passes for 119 yards and 3 TDs versus Tombstone.

* Chandler’s N’Keal Harry had 174 yards and 1 TD versus Desert Ridge.

* Queen Creek’s Zane Whiting caught 7 passes for 131 yards and 2 TDs versus Campo Verde.

Defense/Special Teams/Misc.

* Dysart’s Pacey Prettyman had 11 tackles, 6 for loss and 2.5 sacks.

* Desert Vista kicker Connor Culp went 3 of 4 on FGs, including the game winner versus Basha.

* Thunderbird kicker Nathan Taylor hit a 55 yard FG.

* Chandler OLB Hamilcar Rashed had 11 tackles and 2 sacks versus Desert Ridge.

* Gleason Sprewell from Valley Vista had 3 INTs.
