Hurley scouting in Texas, James Harden makes a call…

This and that…

Bobby Hurley is in Duncanville, Texas today. Day two on the job as the Arizona State basketball coach is filled with scouting. He is at the Adidas Gauntlet Tourney where many of the top high school players in the nation will be on display. 2017 point guard Alex Barcello(Corona Del Sol H.S.) is in the event, playing on Team Bayless Elite. Yes, former St. Marys and Arizona Wildcat Jerryd Bayless has Barcello on his club team…

images-2Hurleys dad is a legendary high school basketball coach at St. Anthonys in New Jersey. Bob Hurley Sr. told me on Fridays show that he is bringing his team to Phoenix this December to play against an Arizona team(Corona Del Sol from what I have been told). “We lost in the State Finals last year, we return four starters and two of them are high level players”…

Sounds like he is in good position to be the next coach of the Bison. James Harden (yes, the Beard) called ASU the day that Herb Sendek was let go to put in a word for Pera. I think you will see more of Harden around the basketball program moving forward…

images-1The Sun Devils will play a couple of games back in Brooklyn, NY at the Barclays Center on Thanksgiving week next season. I would think that there would be a good sized media  contingent to cover the return of Hurley to his roots of the New York/New Jersey area. Also, a strong group of teams for ASU to face. North Carolina  State, LSU, and Marquette…
