From the St. Paul Pioneer Press in Minnesota, running back Adrian Petersons father talked about the future of his sons NFL playing career.
Adrian Peterson’s father stresses his son hasn’t asked for a trade. But it were to happen, he said Thursday he’s heard “rumors’’ of three possible landing spots. “I’ve heard rumors, Arizona,’’ Nelson said in a phone interview with the Pioneer Press. “I’ve also heard the rumors of Indianapolis and the Colts, going there with a quarterback the caliber of (Andrew) Luck. I’ve also heard the Cowboys, coming back home with the Cowboys, behind that offensive line that they have.’’
Petersons father had much to talk about when it came to the Arizona Cardinals and a potential match with the great running back.
The Cardinals also are in major need of top back. Nelson Peterson mentioned about how they could have had his son in 2007, when they took tackle Levi Brown with the No. 4 pick and three selections later Peterson went to the Vikings. “Arizona had the opportunity to draft him and they didn’t,’’ said Nelson Peterson. “They had an opportunity to take him in 2007 with the No. 4 pick and they went and picked Levi Brown. If they would have taken Adrian Peterson, then (quarterback) Kurth Warner would probably still be playing and they probably would have numerous Super Bowls. “Can you imagine (Peterson) with Kurt Warner and with (wide receiver and Minneapolis native) Larry Fitzgerald in his prime? Oh, man, Arizona would probably have a couple of Super Bowls by now“.
The Cardinals need to be “all in” for the 2015 season in pursuit of a title. The age and uncertainty around several positions is nothing to downplay, the window will be closing soon on this current core. Peterson has been off the field for a year, so it’s fair to wonder if he is on the backside of his career or was the rest on his body beneficial.
