Player of the Week

I am going with two players of the week this week, one for a career mark and another for his play on Friday.

Tempe High’s Emanuel Gant threw for 272 yards and 4 TDs against Alhambra, breaking Luke Rubenzer’s all-time yardage mark.

Not often a player rushes for 400 yards, Queen Creek’s Weston Barlow rushed for 405 yards and 5 TDs against Bradshaw Mountain.

QBs

* AJ’s Adam Abbatacola threw for 314 yards and 4 TDs versus McClintock. Three TDs went to Kyle Gilgert.

* Naz Greer from Marcos threw for 287 yards and 3 TDs in a loss to Saguaro.

* Bryce Perkins threw for 279 yards and 4 TDs in Chandler’s win over Highland.

* Basha soph. Ryan Kelley threw for 388 yards and 2 TDs while adding 3 more scores on the ground.

* Austin Nuessle from Desert Mountain threw for 384 yards and 5 TDs in a loss to Mesa. Drew Lasalle caught 10 passes for 207 yards and Kade Warner had 13 for 137 and 3 TDs.

* PV’s Daniel Bridge-Gadd had 187 yards and 2 TDs as well as 91 yards and a score on the ground as the Trojans beat Chaparral.

* Ironwood’s Andrew Espinoza threw for 320 yards and 3 TDs in an overtime loss to Deer Valley.

* Marana Mt. View’s Justice Summerset had 308 yards and 2 scores versus Rincon.

* Sunrise Mountain’s Chase Cord had 3 TDs in the air and 1 on the ground against Trevor Browne.

* Kooper Ray from Goldwater had 275 yards and 4 TDs versus Greenway.

* Dysart’s Gilbert Villalobos had 233 yards and 5 TDs versus Indy.

* In a win over Shadow Mountain, Moon Valley senior Shannn Burton had 256 total yards and 4 TDs.

* Valley Christian’s Chris Williams had 352 yards and 4 TDs. WR Mason Goodell caught 10 passes for 100 yards and a TD.

* Rhett Ricedorff from Show Low had 249 yards and 3 TDs against Payson.

* Safford’s Tyer Shurtz had 106 yards and 1 TD passing and rushed for 151 yards and 3 scores against Walden Grove.

* Seton’s Zach Wade only threw 4 passes but all 4 went for TDs, how’s that for a QB rating?

* Glendale’s Carlos Meza threw for 263 yards and 4 TDs in a win over Wickenburg.

* Az Lutheran’s Cameron Haag threw for 235 yards and 5 TDs. Brady Cook had 113 yards and 3 scores.

* Camp Verde’s Bodie Hodowell threw for 274 yards and 5 TDs versus Willcox. 

RBs

* Desert Ridge’s Taren Morrison racked up 200 yards and scored 3 times versus Mt. View.

* Westwood’s Ethan Johnson rushed for 208 yards and 2 scores in a win over Poston Butte.

* Ryan Velez from Brophy ran for 173 yards and 1 TD against Desert Vista.

* Bryce Coleman from Marana Mt. View had 3 TDs versus Rincon.

* Salpointe’s Dominic Salaz had 150 yards and 2 scores versus Tucson.

* Saguaro’s Kamron Johnson had 211 yards and 4 TDs versus Marcos.

* Skylor Clinton from Prescott had 193 yards and 2 TDs in a win over Mingus.

* River Valley’s Brandon Long had 182 yards and 3 scores against North Pointe.

* Willie Wyatt from Show Low had 316 yards and 5 TDs versus Payson.

* Geovan Neuser from Sahuarita had 147 yards and 3 TDs against Palo Verde.

* Window Rock’s Delano Walker had 317 yards and 3 TDs versus Ganado.

* Not often you have two 250+ rushers and lose but Valley Lutheran’s Elijah Bowie and 323 yards and 5 TDs while Kyron Newton had 279 and 3 scores against Gilbert Christian.

Receivers

* Pinnacle senior Adam Turner caught 6 passes for 124 yards and 3 TDs versus Boulder Creek.

* Basha’s Hunter Rison caught 11 passes for 161 yards and 1 TD against Gilbert.

* Christian Kirk had 11 carries for 192 yards and 2 scores versus Marcos. He also caught 9 passes for 125 yards.

* Brady Hartman from Fountain Hills caught 8 passes for 179 yards and 2 scores versus Blue Ridge.

Defense/Special Teams/Misc.

* Sabino’s Albert Green had 3 INTs last week and scored 3 TDs on offense against Pueblo.

* O’Connor DB Oscar Mills had 3 INTs versus Horizon.

* The Benson OL paved the way for 399 yards rushing and 8 TDs versus Tombstone. Six different players had rushing TDs Friday.
