Here are some hi-lights from our most recent conversation (November 5th) with the Fantasy Sports Writer’s Association Hall of Famer.

What’s your feel on Adrian Peterson at this point? “There’s a lot of speculation right now and no one has a definitive answer as to whether he will play for the Vikings this year so if you have a roster spot that you can afford to sit a player with, Adrian Peterson is worth picking up. I’ve seen Peterson get picked up in a bunch of the leagues I’m in overnight [Wednesday] because waivers just ran but he’s still out there in a lot of leagues and it purely a speculative pickup. If he comes back who knows how good he’s going to be. When he comes back…we just don’t know that so it’s only because he’s a big name people are putting in a speculative add for him.”

Ben Roethlisberger has been a fantasy stud last two weeks: do you see a similar trend continuing? “I’ve been burned by Roethlisberger the past two weeks. I had him as a Sit ‘Em against the Colts because going into that game that defense had given up nothing to quarterbacks: six touchdowns. Then I’m thinking, he’s playing the Ravens this week: seven touchdown passes allowed by Baltimore…and he goes for another six. I don’t know if I’m the one to ask about Ben Roethlisberger at this point but this can’t continue. He can’t keep doing this every single week. He’s got a great matchup this week against the Jets so you have to play him because he’s really hot–the hottest quarterback in the NFL. In fact did you know in the last two games he scored more fantasy points than LeSean McCoy has all year. Is that unreal, or what? So, you play him this week but I’d be looking to trade him. Sell high on Ben Roethlisberger right now. His value is not going to get any higher. If you have a quarterback on your roster who’s more consistent than Roethlisberger and overall better than Roethlisberger why not trade him?…prey on the weak and go out and get a player that can help you on the stretch run.”

Who’s a better add: Mark Sanchez or Ryan Tannehill? “I like Tannehill more long-term. Sanchez actually has a good matchup this week–I can’t believe I’m saying that because Sanchez is an interception machine. We all know that but playing in Chip Kelly’s offense and playing against the Panthers on Monday Night Football—their defense has not been good against the pass this year, Sanchez is actually a sneaky sleeper this week. Tannehill has been very good over the last four or five weeks and what I like about Tannehill is that he’s averaging almost 50 rushing a game over his last four games and when add those extra four or five points to what he does as a passer you’re getting pretty good production. The problem is he’s playing the Lions this weekend…they have one of the better defenses in the league.”

Better running back add: Alfred Blue or Terrance West? “Terrance West. Alfred Blue is more of a speculative add as insurance if you have Arian Foster and it looks like Foster isn’t going to miss any time. This bye week came at a perfect time for him because he hurt his groin…West looks like the guy in Cleveland but who knows…that backfield has become a complete carousel at this point but that matchup this week is good against Cincinnati and if you’re looking for a running back that’s who I’d pick up.”

Bryce Brown or Tre Mason? “Tre Mason. Last week he has 20 touches for the Rams. He plays the Cardinals this week. I wouldn’t start him. I would pick him up for backfield depth purposes. Bryce Brown is still behind Anthony Dixon in Buffalo. If you remember before the bye week Dixon had 22 carries and Bryce Brown didn’t even see 10. So at this point Dixon’s the guy, that’s why I’m going with Mason here.”
