Thursday Three Dots with Arizona basketball in San Diego

Thursday postcard from San Diego

Weber State may be a pushover in round one for Arizona, but there is a strong Arizona high school angle in the 16th seed.
Center Kyle Tresnak grew up in Scottsdale and had a terrific career at Horizon High School(all-time leader in rebounds and blocked shots).
He is not the only Arizona high school kid that will be on the floor against UofA.
Richaud Gittens(Marcos De Niza) and Byron Fulton(St. Marys) are also on the Weber State roster…
Aaron Gordons dad, Ed, played basketball here at San Diego State.
Quote of the day came from UofA guard Nick Johnson “I’ve never known not being anything other than a top seed and expected to win”…
Sean Millers brother, Archie, was the winning coach earlier today when Dayton knocked off Ohio State “it’s been a good day for the Miller family” Sean said during this afternoon media session…
Watched BYU guard Matt Carlino today in the Cougars loss to Oregon. Carlinos’ high school teammate at one time was Nick Johnson. They were part of a Highland High team that should’ve won a couple of state titles. Nick Johnsons brother Chris was part of that squad too…
I found myself in a conversation with Arizona AD Greg Byrne and then Westwood One analyst Bill Frieder within a span of ten minuets. I think my brain was mush after that stretch. Talk about a contrast in styles. Frieder still has a flip phone from the 1990s. Watching him talk and text(I think that’s what he was trying to do) was pretty entertaining…
