19 brave firefighters gave their lives on Sunday as they battled to stop wildfires in the areas northwest of Phoenix, Ariz.

As a show of respect, the Floyd Mayweather/Canelo Alvarez press conference that was scheduled for Tuesday, July 2, at the Herberger Theater was cancelled.

Mayweather and Canelo are on the back end of their 10-city press tour, which is promoting their Sept. 14 fight at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nev.

Instead, a donation will be made to The 100 Club’s Survivor Fund in memory of the Granite Mountain Hotshots, which is a specialist team of wildfire firefighters based in Prescott, Ariz.

The Fund’s mission is “to provide immediate financial assistance to families of public safety officers and firefighters who are seriously injured or killed in the line of duty.”

The fallen firefighters were members of the Hotshots.
