The City of Tucson announced in a release on Friday that the charges against Arizona‘s All-American running back Ka’Deem Carey have been dropped.

Carey who led the nation in rushing yards last season was facing misdemeanor assault and disorderly conduct charges as a result of an alleged domestic violence incident back in December between him and his his 23 year-old ex-girlfriend, who happened to be pregnant at the time. He was then later served with an order of protection.

“A key witness for the prosecution is unavailable , and even if the witness were available, there is no substantial likelihood that a judge would convict Mr. Carey,” the city said today in a news release via the Arizona Daily Star.

On top of these charges, the Tucson-native was involved in an incident a few weeks later with police at McKale Center during an Arizona basketball game. Despite these situations, Carey still participated with the team during spring practice back in April.

As mentioned Carey led the nation in rushing with 1,929 yards which was also a school record and set a school record for rushing touchdowns in 2012.
