Cardinals LB Daryl Washington being sought in domestic violence dispute

Arizona Sports News online

Already facing a four-game suspension for violating the NFL’s substance abuse policy, Cardinals inside linebacker Daryl Washington is in even more hot water.

According to Fox 10, Phoenix Police are trying to track down Washington to question him about an alleged domestic violence dispute between him and his 26-year-old ex-girlfriend.

Sources within the police department told Fox 10 the woman said she got into an altercation with Washington and he choked her. The source also says the victim has marks on her throat.

Sgt. Steve Martos released a statement to NFL.com regarding this situation:

“On May 1, 2013, just after 4 p.m., Phoenix police officers responded to the area of 4800 East Warner. The caller was an adult female who indicated she was a victim of a domestic violence assault. When officers arrived they spoke with the female who has alleged the individual involved in this altercation is Daryl Washington. Officers were unable to speak with both parties as he had left the scene prior to police arriving. This investigation is in the early stages and our detectives are working on this case this morning.”

The Cardinals also released a statement on their website:

“These are serious accusations that we are closely monitoring,” the Cardinals said. “Until all the facts are determined, and out of respect for the process, we will decline any further comment at this point.”
