Bibby Jr. and crew of freshman has Shadow Mountain number one

Arizona Sports News online

The AIA released their first power rankings of the 2012-13 season for boys basketball and sitting at number one in Division II are the Shadow Mountain Matadors.

It has been a tough go of it for Shadow the last few seasons having won just 10 games combined in each of the last two seasons. But behind crew of freshman all playing varsity, who grew up playing together on the Team Bibby club team, the Matador program is quickly back to it’s winning ways and playing an exciting brand of basketball.

The Team Bibby 14 and under team headlined by Michael Bibby Jr. and Carlos Johnson were considered as high as sixth in the nation in their age bracket after winning tournament after tournament. Both Mike Bibby as well as Michael Bibby Jr. believe that this team has the potential to have success not just through state championships in Arizona, but also in receiving national recognition.

With six freshman currently on the roster and more up and coming eighth graders set to join next year, the future is looking very bright over at Shadow Mountain. But while the future is promising, the present is a priority as well as the young players paired senior Keegan Hansen are playing at a very high level.

In part two of my conversations with Mike Bibby and Michael Bibby Jr., we discuss how they believe the great success that Team Bibby has had, will ultimately result in a possible dynasty over at Shadow Mountain High School for many years to come.
