North Canyon freshman sprinter has all-nation speed

For most lady sprinters, if you want to be a Division I collegiate runner in the 400 meters, you have to at least break one minute. North Canyon’s Jasmine Stauffacher-Gray has accomplished that, and then some as a freshman.

The fourteen-year-old has not only ran the fastest 400 meter time in the state this season, she was said to have run the second fastest 400 meter time for a freshman in the nation being clocked at 55.65 seconds.

On her track shoes the number 2016 is written on the back for the 2016 summer Olympic games. Gray has star-studded goals and if she keeps up with the lightning quick pace she is on, one of Arizona’s own could very well be present in Rio de Janeiro in 2016.

Sports360AZ.comย caught up with Jasmine Stauffacher-Gray to talk about her fantastic freshman track season thus far, her goals of one day being an Olympian and her odd meet day snack.
