Derrick Hall: Dbacks going mobile

The Arizona Diamondbacks are making it even easier to watch baseball at Chase Field thanks to the wonders of modern technology.

When the Dbacks open the 2012 regular season, fans attending games will be able to enter the ballpark and even order their favorite ballpark foods through the convenience of their smart phone or tablet.

Instead of waiting in line at the ticket office or concessions around the park, the Snakes are putting the power in the palm of your hand.

“When people come in with the MLB At-Bat [application], which is free,” team President and CEO Derrick Hall told Brad Cesmat Thursday on ‘Big Guy on Sports.’ “They can now order food from their seats at nine different stands that work in conjunction with this new function.”

By downloading the ap, it also allows you the convenience to watch replays instantly after they happen. You can also read up on game stats, player bios, and find out information about Chase Field which will save fans time during and after the game when navigating the concourses.

“We’re trying to provide fans with even added value,” Hall explained to Cesmat. “We want to provide fans with more than they can get outside this ballpark if they’re going to watch it or listen to it, elsewhere. What makes it unique here and what gives them more information than being outside of Chase Field.”

Hall stressed with so many people turning to their phones and mobile devices for quick information, the device is a perfect fit to enhance the overall Diamondbacks experience.

He also said they will explore the possibility of fans being able to electronically score games in the future through the same technology.

This definitely brings a whole new meaning to “Take Me Out To the Ballgame.”
