Coming off one of the best wins of the season Sunday verse the Los Angeles Lakers and a blow-out win of the struggling Washington Wizards, the Suns came into Wednesday night’s game against the Golden State Warriors hoping to end what has been a frustrating first half of the season on a high note.
But that was not the case, as the Suns came out flat against their Pacific Division foe and gave up 39 points in the opening quarter.
They would make a comeback but in the end, Monta Ellis connected on a fade-away jumper with one second left to knock off the Suns 106-104.
Phoenix Suns head Coach Alvin Gentry was irate after the loss. Stating that his team had a golden opportunity to end the first half of the season on a high note but came out sloppy and lacked energy.
Instead of riding a three game win streak out of the All-Star break, the Suns will come off a gut wrenching loss and stand six games below .500.
The Suns are back in action Thursday March 1 at home against the Minnesota Timberwolves.
