Story by Allison Wdowiak
Higley High School’s 15-year-old wide receiver and cornerback, Marcus Edwards, has had only positive news since doctors found a brain tumor on his brain stem a couple weeks ago.
The sophomore underwent a second surgery earlier this month and doctors were able to remove the entire tumor.
Close friends of the family confirmed that after doctors conducted a biopsy of the extracted tumor, the test results came back negative.
Edwards has been moved to a regular room where he is eating on his own and started walking.
The football team has been selling t-shirts for $10 each this week at school and local restaurants to help with Edwards’s medical costs. They have raised nearly $2,000 so far.
T-shirts will be sold at the 2nd Annual Higley Football Cornhole Challenge Tournament next Saturday, the 17th, from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.
